Patti Durr graduated with a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College in 1985 and pursued her masters at the University of Rochester in 1986. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural and Creative Studies for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. She helped found Lights On! Deaf Theatre in 1991 and has since produced numerous films for NTID/RIT. Durr was awarded RIT’s Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2004. Most recently, she was the artistic director of the first Deaf Rochester Film Festival in 2005.
