Dale Nichols

Painter, printmaker, and illustrator Dale Nichols is known for his use of rural imagery, inspired by his Nebraska youth. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and in Vienna. Nichols illustrated covers for the Saturday Evening Post and was the Art Editor for Encyclopedia Britannica. In the 1930s he won a Hearst Award and was a Carnegie visiting professor at the University of Illinois. He was a successful commercial artist and illustrated two books during his career.
