Harvey Ellis

Harvey Ellis [mytho-landscape, genre and figure painting] Born in Rochester, New York in 1852 – Died in Syracuse, New York in 1904. Studied painting under Edwin White. One of the founders of the Rochester Art Club. Was very much interested in arts and crafts movement, mysticism, medievalism, Japonisme; worked in various media.
Exhibition venues for his paintings included the New York Water Color Club and the Paris Exposition of 1900. He served as President of the Rochester Society of Arts and Crafts.
Many of his architectural drawings are in the Leroy Buffington Collection at the University of Minnesota.
