Patti Ambrogi has workedas an Associate Professor in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She holds an MFA from the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. As a student she studied at the Accademia D’Art in Florence, the University of Siena and The Summer Shakespearean Institute at Oxford University.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including recent exhibits at Tokyo Polytechnic Institute in Japan, the Visual Studies Workshop, the Center for Book Arts in New York City, The Boston CyberArtsFestival and the Photographic Resource Center in Boston.
Ambrogi has lectured about moving media and the still photographer. She is the founder of the Media Café at RIT, a curriculum that promotes the production of temporal work crossing disciplines and media. She is also the recipient of RIT’s Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Contribution for Teaching and the Honored Educator Award at the 2012 Regional Society for Photographic Education.
Ambrogi's work looks beneath the surface of official stories and received histories, and toward the discovery of the social, economic, and political processes that shape the roles and relationships of women and power and art and media.
