Although born in the United States, weaver and tapestry artist Sheila Hicks has lived and worked all around the world – Mexico, South America, France, India, and Morocco, to name a few places. Many of her tapestries take up entire walls in large public spaces. Early in her career, she had an interest in ancient and traditional Latin American styles of weaving, and often worked on a traditional small loom strapped to her back. The tapestry by Hicks was commissioned for the new Henrietta campus in 1968.
