John Liggett Meigs

John Liggett Meigs was born in 1916, and attended the University of Redlands in California. After graduating he worked as a newspaper reporter in Los Angeles, and then Honolulu for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. Interested in art-making from the time he was a child, he left his job in Hololulu and studied fine arts in Paris for a year. He continued to work his entire life in a variety of processes - including oil, watercolor, ink, photogaraphy and printmaking. He also pursued various architectural projects, designing houses and buildings. He had over fifty one-man exhibitions and in 1997 received the New Mexico Excellence in the Arts award. He died in 2003.
