Alex Raymond

Illustrator Alex Raymond is best known for his comics illustration during the golden age of comics (1930s and 1940s). He began as an illustrator in the “bullpen” at King Features Syndicate until he broke out his Secret Agent X-9 comic strip in 1934 and emerged as a talent in his own right.

Raymond also provided artwork for the popular Flash Gordon and Jungle Jim comic strips in the 1930s, and upon returning from service in World War II, began illustrating Rip Kirby comics, one of his best known series.
